NASA managers have set the next launch date of STS-127 for Wednesday, June 17th at 5:40am.
Technicians at NASA's Kennedy Space Center have been working to fix a leak associated with the gaseous hydrogen venting system outside Endeavour's external fuel tank. This same issue that delayed Endeavour's launch this past Saturday, also delayed Discovery's launch in March.
NASA managers had to consider launch opportunities this week for both the shuttle and the LRO/LCROSS missions. The Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter/Lunar Crater Observation and Sensing Satellite was scheduled to launch this Wednesday the 17th, but now will launch on Thrusday the 18th at 5:12pm.
The 16-day mission will feature five spacewalks as the crews of Endeavour and the International Space Station work to install the Kibo Japanese Experiment Module Exposed Facility and Experiment Logistics Module Exposed Section on the orbiting outpost.
NASA TV will return to Channel 12 Monday (June 15th) at midnight to bring you prelaunch to landing coverage of this latest shuttle mission.
