Wildlife Tracking Workshop at F. Gilbert Hills State Forest

Department of Conservation & Recreation

COMMUNITY ANNOUNCEMENT

FOXBORO, MA – On Wednesday, February 22nd from 1:00pm to 3:00pm join Cynthia Menard, expert tracker from Withywindle Nature Programs to learn how to track the animals moving about in the forest!  The secret to successful tracking is to never stop questioning. Cynthia will teach participants how to find tracks, scat and browse and how to use what they observe to identify the animals leaving behind their signs. You’ll learn how to tell different tracks apart, what other kinds of signs to look for and participants will receive a hand-out so you can continue practicing your tracking skills at home.  Dress warmly with sturdy hiking shoes as we’ll be outside for 2+ hours; snowshoes are recommended if snow is deep as we may go off-trail. Rain, snow storm, or very icy conditions will cancel the program; we will reschedule.  Program is for adults and children 13+.  Program is free, but space is limited and pre-registration is required.  Please call (508) 866-2580 x163 to pre-register or for more information. For park information and directions, please visit http://www.mass.gov/dcr/parks/southeast/fgil.htm. This program is sponsored by the Massachusetts Department of Conservation & Recreation.
