Town of Foxborough Storm Update, 6pm Tuesday 1/27

The Foxborough Emergency Management Team had their third meeting this afternoon at 4:00 P.M. and has released the following update to the community regarding the impact of the Blizzard of 2015.

Storm totals as of 5:00 P.M. on Tuesday evening were in the range of 22 to 24 inches of snow. Latest weather information indicates that we will continue to see bands of snow until about 9:00 P.M. tonight when the storm begins to move off shore. Wind gusts will continue to cause drifting of snow into tomorrow morning.

DPW Crews are doing their best to keep roads open but a continuing number of snow bands has hampered their ability to stay ahead of the storm. Town Officials continue to remind residents that they should stay off the roads as much as possible until tomorrow morning. A Winter Parking Ban remains in effect until 6:00 A.M. tomorrow.

Presently there are no power losses affecting residents or businesses in Foxborough. Throughout the storm duration, a total of ten (10) locations sustained a loss of power. All of those situations have been repaired and are now fully operational.

School in Foxborough has been cancelled for tomorrow. School is expected to reopen on Thursday.

Residents and businesses with flat roofs are reminded to try and clear these areas as soon as possible while the snow is still light and fluffy. Once the weather warms up, the added weight can place undue stress on these structures.

The Fire Department and the Water Department appreciate any assistance residents can provide in clearing out hydrants located near your property. This is an important safety consideration that could be very helpful in the event of a fire near your home.

Residents are also reminded to clear snow away from all outdoor heating vents. The back up of gas fumes into your home can cause harmful affects that everyone wants to avoid. This same warning is issued for residents starting vehicles with snow backed up against the exhaust. The backup of the fumes from the vehicle can cause significant health concerns and can even be deadly.

Residents who live near elderly residents or residents who need special assistance should be checked on from time to time to make sure they are O.K. With the weather starting to subside, now would be a good time to try and offer this assistance.

Enhanced staffing will remain in place at all Public Safety Departments through tomorrow morning to provide added capacity while the Town continues to dig out from the Storm.

Finally, Town Hall is expected to be open tomorrow at our regular operating time of 8:30 A.M. to 4:00 P.M.

Residents are reminded to be extremely careful and stay inside as much as possible until tomorrow morning. Many roads are still not cleared and may not be passable until late tonight or early tomorrow morning.

Please continue to monitor Foxborough Cable for any further updates regarding the Blizzard of 2015.
