Sturdy Memorial Hospital has been named one of the nation’s Top Performers on Key Quality Measures® by The Joint Commission, the leading accreditor of health care organizations in America. Sturdy was recognized as part of The Joint Commission’s 2014 annual report “America’s Hospitals: Improving Quality and Safety,” for attaining and sustaining excellence in accountability measure performance for Heart Attack, Heart Failure, Pneumonia, and Surgical Care. Sturdy is one of 1,224 hospitals in the United States to achieve the 2013 Top Performer distinction. The Top Performer program recognizes hospitals for improving performance on evidence-based interventions that increase the chances of healthy outcomes for patients with certain conditions.
The New England Patriots Charitable Foundation and Patriots safety Devin McCourty celebrated the chance to bring football to the local special needs community on Monday, Nov. 10, with a flag football event as part of the Foundation’s ongoing Celebrate Volunteerism initiative.
On Monday, November 17, 2014, Norwood Hospital Cancer Center at Foxboro will host an American Cancer Society sponsored Look Good…Feel Better session. Volunteer beauty professionals will teach female cancer patients beauty techniques to help restore their self-image during chemotherapy and radiation treatments. Women will learn about makeup techniques, skincare, nail care and options related to hair loss such as wigs, turbans and scarves. Each participant will receive a free cosmetics kit for use during and after the workshop. Light refreshments will be provided.
