Free Outdoor Festival Celebrates the Neponset River and Community Connections

The Neponset River Watershed Association (NepRWA) invites the public to celebrate the Neponset River at Neponset Day, on Saturday, August 23, 2025, from 9 AM – 1 PM at DCR Neponset II Park, located at the corner of Granite Avenue and Hill Top Street in Dorchester. (Rain Date: Sunday, August 24.)

This free outdoor event features nature, science, and hands-on activities for all ages.

“The Neponset River has come a long way, and Neponset Day is a chance to appreciate this special place and the green spaces along the River that connect our communities,” said Andres Ripley, NepRWA Greenways Director.

Event highlights:

•         Free canoeing and kayaking (boats provided)

•         Music and food trucks

•         Environmental and science exhibits

•         Kids’ games, and nature-based activities

Guests are encouraged to bring a blanket and a picnic to relax and enjoy the riverside park.
